Diabetes is a condition where the body has lost the ability to regulate the blood sugar.
Diabetes is of two types, 1 and 2.
In type 1, there is an attack on the cells that produce insulin by the immune system, so there is no production of insulin in the body.
In type 2, there is lot of insulin production (in the early stages), but the cells do not respond to the insulin. This is “insulin resistance”. Ultimately, the pancreas is damaged and it produces less insulin in the later stages.
Prediabetes is a condition which can be recognized only with tests, but not with symptoms. It is a treatable condition with lifestyle changes and medication. Regular exercise and balanced diet from the point of diagnosis of prediabetes can cure it without any doubt. Metformin is also proved to be beneficial to treat the condition.
